In a recent statement, Layzie Bone, the renowned rapper, and member of the legendary hip-hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, expressed his views on the ongoing tension between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, urging for unity rather than discord within the hip-hop community.

On May 11, 2024, in The Maikon Show podcast, the rapper suggested he is not happy to see two Titans tearing each other down and said he would instead want to see them as a force —

"I would rather see them come together as a force as opposed to tearing down," Bone Thugs artist added.

During the podcast, the rapper expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing rap battle between the two, citing his experiences witnessing many groups and talents disintegrating because of similar conflicts.

Last weekend, on May 11, 2024, during a podcast called The Maikon Show, Layzie Bone expressed his opinion of a rap battle between the two titans in hip-hop.

Bone suggested he would want to see Drake and Kendrick Lamar unite and collaborate positively rather than "beefing," adding to this, the rapper suggested he is a fan of both artists —

"I totally don't like Kendrick and Drake beefing because I'm a fan of both of theirs. I love Drake. I really, really admire Drake. I think his wordplay is immaculate. The music he put out is dope. I love Kendrick Lamar. Really love Kendrick Lamar."

While reflecting on the consequences of the beefing, the rapper acknowledged people believe rap and beef are connected, but referencing the breakup of N.W.A., a group he admired, Layzie Bone highlighted the effects of feud —

"I know a lot of people say hip hop was built on beef and all that – yeah, cool, fine and dandy, but I saw what that did to N.W.A. I'm cut from that cloth."

He further added,

"I was fortunate enough to be a kid on the block living that life, that story they was telling. Having that be my favorite group, and then that time they spent beefing and wasting."

Mentioning the other artists, including Eazy-E, 2Pac, and Biggie, Layzie Bone suggested they engaged in beefing and spent too much time in it, and the result was nothing —

"I also got to see Eazy-E wanting to put his group back together, but they couldn't because they wasted so many times and he ended up passing away. I saw what it did to Biggie and Pac. It's divisive."

Lil Lay further added that, for him, beefing is "counterproductive," he "could battle rap" about what he thinks is funny and makes people laugh —

"To me, it's counterproductive to where we could really be. It's cool. I could battle rap. I could write a rap about you and what I think is funny and make people laugh or humiliate you and try to make you seen in a light that you don't wanna see yourself in."

Layzie Bone added that possibly because he is "older," he does not find value in engaging in verbal or social conflicts. He suggests people should engage themselves in boxing or Mixed Martial Arts to settle disputes constructively —

"But I don't feel like… Maybe I'm older. But it's not a place that I wanna be in because if you really gon' beef, I think you should try boxing or MMA or something like that. Really get it in and then go have a beer about it."

Layzie Bone and many hip-hop heavyweights, including Dame Dash, T.I., Boosie Badazz, and Wyclef Jean, weigh in on Drake's and Kendrick Lamar's battle.

The rap battle, which escalated in March 2024 with Kendrick Lamar's Like That, involved many back-and-forth disses which included them throwing allegations at each other.
