During a performance on April 21, 2024, as part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Nicki Minaj hurled back at the audience an object that was seemingly thrown towards her from the crowd.

Towards the end of her set, as Minaj engaged with fans while performing Starships, an unknown small object, possibly a bracelet, was thrown in her direction from the crowd, landing close to her on the stage.

Video footage from the concert shows Minaj's quick reflexes as she deflected the object. She then picked it up and tossed it back towards the area it came from.

The crowd's reaction was mixed, with some cheering her on for her response and others expressing shock at the turn of events. This incident, however, is only the latest in a string of similar occurrences at live performances, where artists face unexpected disruptions from the audience, who allegedly throw things at them onstage.

Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday 2 World Tour had a memorable concert in Detroit, featuring a setlist packed with hits across her career. The concert began with energetic performances of tracks like I'm the Best and Barbie Dangerous. As the evening progressed, fans enjoyed a diverse mix with tracks like Anaconda and Super Bass, leading up to the much-anticipated Starships.

It was during this song that the bracelet was thrown at her from the crowd, an incident that momentarily disrupted the performance. Despite the incident, Minaj seemed to have enjoyed herself, and even posted a tweet following the show.

This tour stop also featured surprise performances by Big Sean and Sada Baby, enhancing the overall concert experience.

The latest Nicki Minaj incident highlights a concerning trend of shows being interrupted

During a performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas on July 29, 2023, a challenging situation unfolded for rapper Cardi B. Amid her energetic rendition of Bodak Yellow, an unexpected disruption occurred when a concertgoer threw a cup filled with liquid directly at her, splashing her face and visibly upsetting the artist.

In response, Cardi B reacted instinctively by throwing her microphone at the individual responsible for the splash, which brought the performance to a temporary halt.

This incident rapidly intensified as security stepped in, removing the disruptive audience member from the venue. After the event, the concert attendee lodged a police complaint accusing battery due to being hit by the microphone hurled by Cardi B. However, there turned out to be inadequate evidence to file charges against Cardi. The case was officially concluded, and no further legal actions were pursued.

Additionally, during the concert, before the incident, Cardi B interacted playfully with the crowd, encouraging them to splash water towards her as it was intensely hot. However, she specifically requested not to be hit in the face.

Another similar incident happened during a concert in Vienna, Austria on July 9, 2023, when Harry Styles was struck in the eye by an object thrown from the crowd. Despite the sudden impact and apparent discomfort, Styles managed to continue with his performance, completing the concert as planned.

Harry Styles had previously experienced a similar incident where he was hit in the eye by a Skittle thrown from the crowd. Fortunately, in both cases, he avoided serious injury.

Taylor Swift also recently addressed her fans during her Buenos Aires concert on November 13, 2023, asking them not to throw objects onto the stage. She explained that such actions can create hazards, potentially causing dancers to trip.

Swift emphasized the importance of maintaining gentle, healthy boundaries during her performances, appreciating the fans' enthusiasm but urging them to refrain from throwing gifts onto the stage
