Nicki Minaj is featured on the remix of Lil Wayne's song Banned From NO. The original track is from his 14th album, Tha Carter VI, released on June 6. Fans had expected Minaj on the album, but she wasn’t included. Instead, the remix came out on Wednesday, June 11, with Minaj delivering a fiery verse and taking shots at several people.
She slammed Shannon Sharpe, an NFL player-turned-podcaster who has criticized Minaj in the past. She raps,
“If I send a pic of Shannon you ain’t that Sharpe/ Cause you still can’t spell Prague and that’s horrible."
She also took a dig at the NFL for overlooking Lil Wayne for the Super Bowl Halftime Show earlier this year in the rapper's hometown, New Orleans.
Fans online have now reacted to Nicki Minaj's remix version of Banned From NO, as one X user wrote,
"Same old flow nothing new."
"They thought they were getting a new single and it’s just a Lil Wayne remix lmaoooo," another user wrote.
"The Collab that no one wanted," another commented.
However, many were highly complimentary of the song and Nicki Minaj's verse in it, as one user tweeted:
"Wayne + Nicki = unbeatable duo. This remix just raised the bar for everyone."
"She ate this verse so bad," another wrote.
"she ate this verse i fear i gotta give my tens," another commented.
This is Nicki Minaj's first collaboration with Wayne since he featured on her album Pink Friday 2, which was released in December 2023.
The Alchemist says he could've been on Lil Wayne's Tha Carter VI

Alan Daniel Maman, aka The Alchemist, has revealed that he was asked to send something for Lil Wayne's Tha Carter VI album. However, he overthought it, and the time had passed, so he couldn't feature in it.
At the 2025 BET Awards, HipHopDX spoke to The Alchemist and asked him if he's still been working with Wayne. He answered (via Billboard):
“Not lately."
He added that he keeps in touch with the rapper's team, saying,
"Mack Maine is a good friend of mine and we talk regularly. And I probably missed the boat ’cause they told me to send something for this record and I was just overthinking it.”
When asked if he would like to collaborate with the rapper again, he said,
“That’s something I would love to do. Wayne is like up in the quasars as far as MCs, so you never know. I was probably thinking too hard. Listen, we all do that. I overthought it but next time I won’t.”
The Alchemist and Lil Wayne have collaborated on multiple songs in the past, dating as far back as 1999. Wayne appeared on Who Can I Trust, along with Queens MC Cormega. They also collaborated on Carter III, when The Alchemist produced You Ain't Got Nuthin.
