Aubrey O'Day took to Instagram stories on September 22, 2024, to reveal that she had written a song about Sean "Diddy" Combs in 2013. The former Danity Kane member made the revelation after Combs was arrested and held without bail in New York on charges of racketeering and s*x trafficking. She also took to social media to celebrate Diddy being behind bars.
While the Instagram stories have disappeared from Aubrey's profile, she had shared a collage of herself and Diddy from two different events. Both the musicians were dressed in white as Aubrey's song played in the background. She also claimed that she had written the song in 2013.
Part of the lyrics read, "There’s no escape," with more lyrics stating:
“Would’ve learned a lesson/ Would have never got in/ I want to escape but there’s no way/ Covered up in death/ Everyone is left here feeling betrayed”
People shared screenshots of Aubrey's story across social media, with many trolling her and others wondering why the song wasn't available on music streaming platforms. Some also responded to Aubrey singing about the Bad Boy Records founder, with one person writing:
Fans also said that Aubrey hated the man "more than Tom hated Jerry." Some noted that Aubrey had been singing about Combs for a long time and deserved an apology for the way she was treated for speaking up against Combs.
A fan also called her the "most credible source," as some noted that she had been "consistent" about her accusations of Diddy.
Diddy, also known as Puff Daddy, was behind Aubrey O'Day being removed from his Danity Kane Group. Meanwhile, O'Day has publicly been critical of Combs several times previously and has also accused him of attempting to buy her silence.
After he was arrested on September 16, 2024, Aubrey took to social media to speak about his being jailed amid the federal investigation held against the rapper. She wrote that she felt "validated" after the rapper's arrest, calling it a win for "women all over the world."
“The purpose of Justice is to provide an ending and allow us the space to create a new chapter. Women never get this. I feel validated. Today is a win for women all over the world, not just me. Things are finally changing,” Aubrey wrote.
Apart from being accused of operating a criminal enterprise, Combs is also facing several civil lawsuits after being accused of s*xual assault by multiple victims. The first woman to come forward with the allegations was his ex-girlfriend, singer, Cassie Ventura.
“I never thought I would see this day”: Aubrey O’Day reacts to Diddy’s arrest
Sean Combs has been accused of assaulting women on numerous occasions since 2009. Legal experts have predicted that the musician will serve time in prison, which could go up to 20 years. Others speculated that due to the prosecution's evidence, he might be able to enter a plea deal.
Aubrey O'Day spoke about Combs' arrest during an interview with TMZ and said that she "never thought" she would have seen the day Combs got arrested. She added that all of his victims had "buried" it all inside of them in order to "keep going."
“ot just me, but victims you don’t even know yet. We are all processing what that type of vindication can actually feel like now. Every conversation I’ve had with victims last night has been beyond moving on all levels,” she said.
In September 2023, O’Day claimed that Diddy asked her to sign an NDA to never make disparaging comments about him or his music label. After several victims came forward months later to accuse the music producer of s*xual assault and abuse, O’Day gave a statement to People magazine in May 2024.
She said that while she didn't "know he's feeling," she does know what all of his victims felt. Aubrey added that she could see a "clear path and direction" for the industry to go in which would "create a safe space for artists." She claimed that she was willing to "fight like hell" to see the dream of a safe space for the artists in her lifetime.
A trial date for Diddy had not been set at the time of writing this article. However, he is being held without bail in jail in New York City.
