Kevin Hart hosted the 2025 BET Awards on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Peacock Theater. In his opening monologue, the actor and comedian reportedly joked about Cardi B's boyfriend Stefon Diggs, Sean "Diddy" Combs' ongoing trial, and Kanye West.
Kevin Hart made a reference to Sinners and jokingly stated that Kanye West was a vampire, waiting outside the Peacock Theater for someone to let him in. The comedian then brought up Playboi Carti, referencing the online feud between the two rappers.
"Oh s**t, it's Kanye. Yep, he says he's out front, he's waiting for somebody to invite him in. We all saw Sinners, don't let his a** in here, so he could fight somebody, so he can fight Playboi Carti again, okay? Nobody let Kanye in, no! Not tonight!" Hart said.

For the unversed, in March 2025, after Playboi Carti released his album MUSIC, West's ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, gave a shout-out to the album on her Instagram stories. Carti then thanked her and stated that he would like to work with North West, referring to the 11-year-old as his niece. This upset Kanye, as he went on a lengthy rant on X, criticizing the rapper for referring to North as his niece.
Kevin Hart's opening monologue was reuploaded on X by the user @nfr_podcast. The clip garnered a mixed reaction from netizens.
Some netizens appreciated Hart's jokes, stating the Sinners reference was funny.

He jokingly told the audience that they weren't allowed to participate in any after-parties, saying that's where things get "slippery," allegedly referring to Diddy's massive after-parties and the baby oil found in his residence.
"I'm shutting down the idea of after parties. No after parties tonight. None. Take your a**es home after this. That's why I did it on a Monday. People have to go to work tomorrow. No after parties.
