Vicks died in a drive-by shooting in Olney, Philadelphia, in August 2024. Per the police, two shooters opened fire at him and a passenger in broad daylight, striking the rapper in his chest and hands. The passenger rushed YBC Dul to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.
YBC Dul led the Young Bag Chasers gang and was known by the nickname Mr. Disrespectful
Days before killing YBC Dul, Aiden Waters shot a 14-year-old in the leg and a 43-year-old near Rising Sun Avenue on August 19. Both victims survived. Hours later, Waters opened fire at a car with several teenagers inside near Olney High School. The incident led to the death of Marquis Saunders, 16, and injuring another teen.
YBC Dul led the Young Bag Chasers (YBC) gang and made several enemies in the city, earning him the nickname Mr. Disrespectful. Several of Vicks' songs glorified gang violence and revenge.
A day before his death, the rapper was the subject of YouTuber Brandon Buckingham's video, titled The Most Hated Rapper in Philadelphia: Life as Mr. Disrespectful. In the interview, YBC Dul boasted about his gang and gun violence, even taking Buckingham to areas in the city they tormented.
Per a report by KYW, citing law enforcement sources, Aiden Waters was in a rival gang targeting Vicks. It elaborated that cops linked a stolen vehicle was involved in the shooting to Waters. When they arrested the teen, they also served a search warrant, finding two guns in his basement connected to the other shootings.
According to the publication, assistant DA Cydney Pope commented:
"One of them had a switch on it, which made it fully automatic, and that one had an obliterated serial number on it... The gun that matches all these incidents was a stolen firearm."
Detectives continue investigating whether Aiden is involved in two other shootings that occurred in March. One happened at a bus stop, injuring eight teens, and the other led to the death of a 17-year-old.
Waters is facing multiple charges, including multiple counts of murder, aggravated assault, attempted murder, and gun-related charges.
Pope and William Fritze, with the DA's office, urged parents to be active and involved to get the guns off their children's hands. They explained that these teens don't even know each other but create violence, and Fritze added that it comes from a need to be famous like a social media influencer.
"It's clout chasing, that's what we call it. It's what everyone calls it — looking for notoriety, looking to make a name for yourself," remarked Pope.
If convicted, Aiden Waters will face life in prison.
