Trippie Redd and Justin Bieber are in mourning over the passing of their close friend Chris King. On Saturday, April 20, the Never Say Never singer announced on his Instagram page that King had passed away during the weekend.

In his Instagram story, Bieber wrote:

"Love you, bro. This one hurts. Please keep his family in your prayers. See you in paradise, brother."

Last.fm reported that Chris King was a rapper from Fontana, California. He became well-known through his collaborations with Trippie Redd. He was a member of the 1400 Gang and the Snotty Nose Mafia, along with Redd.

Although the details of his death are still unknown, there is speculation that it was reportedly caused by a shooting in Nashville, Tennessee.

As reported by Last.fm, rapper Chris King, whose actual name was Christopher Stacy Cheeks Jr., was an alt-country and honky-tonk musician who put out two EPs, This New Almanac and Bexar County. His popular tracks include A Love Letter To You 4 (Deluxe) and Can You Rap Like Me, Pt. 2.

King began his career in the music industry as a member of 2Much. It was signed to Chris Stokes' record label, The Ultimate Group.

Talking about his friendship with Redd, Chris King revealed in a 2019 interview with Complex that he was captivated by the former because of the style of his songs. In 2016, Trippie was discovered on Instagram, and King brought the rapper to Los Angeles.

Following his passing, celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Trippie Redd, and other singers and entertainers paid tribute to the rapper on social media.

On Saturday, April 20, Bieber posted an update on his Instagram stories with a message. A video clip that King posted on December 1 was also included in the post. In the post, King reminisced about his time spent living with Bieber over ten years ago.

Rapper Trippie Redd also confirmed Chris King's passing. Hotnewhiphop reported that Sunny 2point0, a musician well known for his album Been Boomin, posted the original story on social media. Redd, who goes by Michael Lamar White IV in real life, honored King and shared the news with a caption:

"I am so hurt rn I can’t even think I love you bro come back!!!!! @whoischrisking. I can’t catch a break."

In the comments section, fans also expressed their condolences for King.


Although there are few and evolving details about Chris King's death, as of yet, as shared by the rapper on social media, it is known that Significant Records had him booked to perform at an event in Nashville, Tennessee. It was on Friday, April 19, the day when King died. He was in Nashville that day.

Nevertheless, there is speculation that King was shot. The cause of his death has not yet been verified by the authorities.
