Late rapper FBG Duck, a.k.a. Carlton Weekly's mother, Lasheena Weekly, slammed Lil Durk over his tribute to her son this weekend. On Monday, October 21, 2024, Momma Duck (as she calls herself) took to her Instagram to share a picture of her son with the caption:
"IMA NEED YALL TO HASHTAG #DUCKDIDITFIRST n REPOST THIS PIC IF U THINK THAT SH*T NOT CAP."
Weekly was referring to Lil Durk's First Annual Birthday Bash that took place on Sunday. During the show, the rapper included a memoriam segment featuring photos of rappers who have died over the last decade. This included King Von, Juice WRLD, and FBG Duck.
Duck's inclusion in the segment surprised many netizens, as both rappers had been involved in a bitter feud before Duck's death in 2020. As per reports, both rappers were involved in gang-related activities.
As news of Lasheena Weekly's IG post calling out the Backdoor hitmaker spread, internet users were quick to react. One netizen criticized her stance, stating:
Netizens slammed Weekly, pointing out that she seemed to forget her late son was also involved in gang-related violence. Others noted that after Durk's peace offering (referring to his song Chicago Legends), FBG Duck immediately released a diss track aimed at Lil Durk. Here are some comments seen under her post:
Meanwhile, others spoke out in support of Weekly.
FBG Duck's mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Lil Durk earlier this month
On October 9, 2024, FBG Duck's mother, Lasheena Weekly, filed a lawsuit against Lil Durk, King Von's estate, and others, claiming they were responsible for her son's death in August 2020.
For the unversed, Duck was shopping with his son in Chicago's Gold Coast when four gunmen shot him. According to a January 2024 report by the Chicago Sun Times, six men with ties to the O Block gang (a subset of the Black Disciples gang) were found guilty of shooting the rapper. Prosecutors tied the shooting to a feud between O Block and the Tookaville faction of the Gangster Disciples (that FBG Duck was a member of).
As per the publication, O Block leader King Von and Duck had a history of feuding, with both dropping diss tracks aimed at each other. Things took an ugly turn in 2020 when the latter dropped the song Dead B, which referenced dead O Block members. Prosecutors alleged that Von placed a $100,000 bounty on Duck as a result.
To be noted, King Von himself was killed in an unrelated shooting just months after Duck's death.
According to Weekly's lawyer, Roosevelt Allen, in a statement made to the Chicago Sun Times, the shooting was "a brazen act of violence." He stated that the six men charged in January "were pawns of a broader scheme of exploitation for profit by Lil Durk, his label, and their labels, who were placing profit over human life." He added that King Von might have placed the bounty, but Lil Durk was "the puppet master of the events."
The other defendants in the lawsuit included Durk and King Von's respective record labels, the city of Chicago, Dolce & Gabbana (the store where Duck was shopping), two private security firms, and the six men convicted for his murder.
The city of Chicago was listed as a defendant in the suit for willful misconduct. The lawsuit alleged that FBG Duck lay bleeding for 17 minutes on the sidewalk but didn't receive treatment from police or emergency services. Additionally, Dolce & Gabbana and security at the Gold Coast store were included for failing to provide adequate safety measures.
Lil Durk has not publicly reacted to the Instagram post.
