On Monday, June 16, 2025, Judge Arun Subramanian, according to CNN, dismissed Juror No. 6 during the ongoing Sean “Diddy” Combs s*x trafficking and racketeering trial. The juror was dismissed over his inconsistent disclosures concerning his residence and living arrangements.
Juror No. 6, a 41-year-old black man, was replaced by the first alternate juror, a 57-year-old white man. The latter lives with his wife and two kids in Westchester County.
On Monday, Judge Arun Subramanian confirmed that the decision to dismiss Juror No.6 was made after acknowledging the issue with full importance and consideration.
Judge Arun Subramanian's decision to replace Juror No. 6 in the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs trial explored
Judge Arun Subramanian said on Monday, June 16, 2025, as per CNN, replacing Juror No.6:
“It would be improper to let the race of the juror and the alternate juror factor into the proper course here all.”
During jury selection, the old Juror No.6 said he lived in the Bronx with his fiancée and baby daughter. However, during an inquiry, which was reportedly conducted last week, he told the court that he recently moved to New Jersey with his partner and child.
Meanwhile, in another interview, he alleged that he stays with his aunt in the Bronx for 4 or 5 nights a week while working. Notably, the federal Judge said he took the weekend to come to this conclusion after his previous comment on the juror replacement on June 13, 2025.
As per CNN, Subramanian said on Friday:
“The changing answers and inconsistency give the court worry about deception and lying.”
On Friday, the judge also noted he found that the juror had been inconsistent in answering where he lives and with whom when asked at different times. Subramanian also said that there might be some evidence of the juror acting with a personal agenda to stay on the trial.
However, the defense argued to keep the juror. Attorney Xavier Donaldson reportedly said that dismissing the juror in the middle of the ongoing trial would reduce the diversity of the jury.
According to Business Insider, Diddy's lawyer, Xavier Donaldson, said on Friday:
“I think that is of paramount importance, sometimes above just about all else, that we have a jury that is representative of who they're making decisions against, particularly in this city.”
Judge Arun Subramanian confirmed that the former Juror No. 6 was also dismissed after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor fraud related to insurance. He had reportedly received a one-year conditional discharge. He told the court that he had heard about the Diddy trial, but was not knowledgeable after previously saying that he is a fan of ’90s hip-hop.
The 57-year-old alternate juror, who is a white man, is a manufacturing architect. He has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. During voir dire, he also confirmed that biking and travelling are his hobbies.
As per Business Insider, he told the judge that he had learned of Diddy’s case by listening to NPR, and added:
“I know through the media that Sean Combs is accused of illegal activities related to human trafficking and extortion.”
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is facing s*x trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. His trial in the New York City court is now in its sixth week. Although the 55-year-old musician has denied all the charges against him, if convicted, he could face up to life behind bars.
