After record-breaking US Swimming Championships, Gretchen Walsh reunites with baseball boyfriend Dean Kampschror

American swimmer Gretchen Walsh shared glimpses of her time with her boyfriend and the University of Virginia baseball player Dean Kampschror. This comes just after her successful campaign at the 2025 US Swimming Championships.

During the event, Walsh broke the 50m butterfly world record after clocking a time of 24.66 seconds. She followed this up with a Championship, breaking the record in the 100m butterfly event in 54.76 seconds, and also won the 50m freestyle race.

After this impressive campaign, Walsh spent some time with her boyfriend, Kampschror, in Delaware. The American swimmer shared some pictures of their time on her Instagram handle, where they were seen enjoying themselves at the beach and cafes around the place. Walsh stated in her caption:

Dean Kampschror plays as a pitcher for the baseball side of the University of Virginia. He has been featured in the team during the 2024 and 2025 seasons for her team after minimal chances in 2022 and 2023. Notably, Walsh is also a former University of Virginia alum and recently graduated from the institution.

Gretchen Walsh shared her emotions after a successful campaign at the 2025 US Swimming Championships. After this impressive nationals, she will now look to lock in at the World Championships scheduled later this year.

Speaking in an interview, Walsh said that she was quite impressed with her performance, especially in the 100m freestyle event. She further added that she has worked a lot in this specific event in the last six years, and was quite impressed with the improvements she has seen in this race. She said, via SwimSwam:

"I felt really good about it, I feel like there's been a lot that's happened over the last four days. Starting with the 100m free I've just been really proud of myself with how far I've come in that event, it's been such a journey over the last 6 years for me in that event. I think every time I drop, that's a huge step in the right direction for me and I take a lot of pride in that."

During the trials, Gretchen Walsh finished second in the 100m freestyle event, where she finished just behind Torri Huske after clocking 52.78 seconds. Before the event, Walsh also had impressive performances at the TYR Pro Swim Series, where she clocked three gold medals at the Fort Lauderdale leg of the event.
