Gabby Thomas recently shared her honest thoughts about track and field. The Olympic champion sprinter shared her reaction amidst the French Open final clash between tennis players Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka, where Coco Gauff eventually emerged as the winner.
After the finals, journalist Roland S. Martin expressed his opinion about the struggles faced by a runner-up in tennis on his X timeline [previously Twitter]. He also added that tennis is the 'only sport' where the runner-up has to explain why they lost and how they watch the winner lift with the trophy.
Thomas cheekily responded by sharing the comment on her X timeline, as she wrote in the caption,
"Track and field just entered the chat"
Interestingly, Coco Gauff credited Thomas for her title victory at the French Open tournament. The 21-year-old tennis player posted an Instagram story, revealing how her act was inspired by Thomas' tactics for the Paris Olympics in 2024. She wrote in the caption,
"ignore my handwriting but I saw @gabbythomas do this, had to do the same lol"
Gabby Thomas will be seen in action next at the season finale of the Grand Slam Track event. The finale will be held at the Drake Stadium in Los Angeles from June 27 to June 29.

Gabby Thomas shared her thoughts about her mental preparation for the races. In her conversation with Marie Claire about Audrey Noble, the 28-year-old Olympic champion sprinter mentioned
"Anytime I have anything coming up, I am visualizing everything very specifically so that by the time the race happens (or whatever big event I have coming up), I already know all the emotions that went into it [and] how I'm supposed to feel. [With] everything, I get really specific. So it helps me feel like I've already lived in the moment in a way. It's literally manifestation."
Gabby Thomas didn't have a great outing at the Philadelphia leg of the Grand Slam Track meet. She finished fourth in the 100m event and took silver in the 200m event, missing the short sprints title by a close margin. Thomas reacted to the same by posting on her X.
"Not the Slam results I hoped for, but when you race as often as I do, you can’t win em all. On the bright side, this is the best I have ever ran at this at this point in the season!! I’m so so grateful to everyone who continues to support me on my journey, win or lose- rain or shine. I love this sport sm and I’ll see you guys on the track very soon!!!"
Gabby Thomas aims to make it big at the Tokyo World Championships this year. She had previously won a gold medal in the 4x100m relay and a silver medal in the women's 200m event at the Budapest World Championships held in 2023.
