Dutch sprint sensation Femke Bol recently reacted to boyfriend Ben Broeders meeting the Olympic qualification mark in the men’s pole vault event at the Shanghai Diamond League 2024.

Broeders, a former European U23 gold medalist, attained the Paris Olympics qualifying mark, which was set at 5.82m, on his second attempt in the second Diamond League meet of the 2024 season. He finished second-tied with the two-time World champion Sam Kendricks in the meet held in Suzhou.

The event was eventually won by the world record holder Mondo Duplantis who finished with 6.00m. Although he attempted a 6.25m mark which is 0.01m better than his world record that he had achieved at the Xiamen Diamond League 2024, Duplantis wasn’t able to breach it.

Bol, the reigning world indoor champion in the 400m and Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist in the 400m hurdles, was impressed by her boyfriend Broeders’ performance at the meeting. She went on to share a video of this on her Instagram (IG) account, stating:

“😍😍😍😍😍😍 Olympic qualifier ❤️‍🔥”

Although Femke Bol is renowned for smashing records in the 400m, the Dutch athlete doesn’t have any intentions of competing over the distance at the Paris Olympics 2024.

In an interview post her world record performance in Glasgow, Bol was asked if there was anything that could convince her to run the 400m flat in Paris. She responded to this, stating:

“No”

The interviewer further asked if she would change her mind if she ran a 48.00. She again refused to participate in the 400m dash at the Olympics.

Bol clinched the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in the 400m hurdles, finishing behind the USA’s Sydney McLaughlin (51.46) and Dalilah Muhammad (51.58) in a time of 52.03s.
