Sha'Carri Richardson shared her thoughts about representing the USA in global competitions. The American athlete shared that wearing Team USA colors and competing against the best athletes in the world is a matter of pride for her, as it signifies the culmination of her hard work and resilience over the years towards her goals.

The 25-year-old made her Olympic debut in Paris and concluded her campaign with one gold medal in the women's 4x100m relay and a silver medal in the 100m. Sha'Carri Richardson spoke about having the brand 'Team USA' while competing in global competitions like the World Championships and the Olympic Games in her latest question-and-answer session with For the Win.

Richardson shared that having the brand 'Team USA' across her kit means a lot to her as a black athlete, and gave out a positive message to the upcoming generation who felt that their path to success was hindered.

"To have the brand Team USA across my chest represents a level of pride ― that I am as a Black woman, knowing that where I come from ― [which] continues to represent a certain level of resilience that my I am my ancestors wildest dreams, and I will continue to, you know, open that door up to anybody that feels like that door has been closed on them," she said.

Moreover, Sha'Carri Richardson shared that wearing Team USA it also represents a country that has a never-give-up attitude on the track and would always put their best effort in every event. Along with that, Richardson shared that it is an indication that she had trained with some of the best athletes in the world and aims to dominate the lineup.

"As well as wearing Team USA across my chest, it represents a country that is always gonna show up and show out. Always gonna put their best foot forward. Always is going to know that, "Hey, if you see me, you know that I'm working to be the best," she added.

Sha'Carri Richardson spoke about her motivation before stepping on the track in an interview with Essence. The American athlete shared that gets motivated when she thinks of her rigorous training routine as well as the massive support from her family and fans.

Moroever, the cheers whenever Richardson enters the track gives her an adrenaline boost which gives her an assurance of being in the right place.

"I cannot walk into a race without fully feeling the emotions from training, or the emotions from the motivation, or the inspiration I get from my fans, my family. So when I walk out onto the track, that is what my heart is filled with, and that is the adrenaline that gets me going. As soon as my foot, my spike, hits the track, my heart confirms that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be and who I am.” she said.

Richardson hoped to continue to put forward her best performances in her races and inspire the next generation of athletes.
