American track athlete Sha'Carri Richardson shared her honest opinion on preparing for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Richardson competed in her debut quadrennial games last year and won the 100m silver medal just behind St Lucia's Julien Alfred.
Notably, she also helped Team USA to a 4x100m gold medal during the event. However, talking about the home Olympics, slated to be organized three years down the line, the 25-year-old explained her opinion on the identification of track and field just with the Olympics.
Speaking in an interview, Richardson said that there are several other important meets in the discipline other than the Olympics. She further added that currently her complete focus is on the World Championships, where she will enter as the 100m champion to defend her title.
"I feel like being a track and field athlete, we don't just show up for the Olympics. We have world championships. We have other meets that happen every other year as well, besides every four years. So, right now I'm looking forward to world championships in Tokyo as the reigning world champion in the 100 in September, and as well as from there, definitely building off of that momentum to go to 2028, and continue to represent myself, hard work, my team and of course, my country team USA," Richardson said in an interview with USA Today.
Sha'Carri Richardson further added in the conversation that after the Tokyo event, all her preparations will be in focus for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Notably, for the 2025 Tokyo event, Richardson's initial hurdle will be at the US Outdoor Nationals, scheduled to start next month at the Hayward Field, which will be the major qualifying competition for the Worlds.
Sha'Carri Richardson explains why Christian Coleman deserves more recognition

Sha'Carri Richardson recently heaped praises on her boyfriend, Christian Coleman's consistent performances across the years. So far in his career, Coleman has won multiple World Championships and Diamond League gold medals.
When asked about the athlete who deserves more acknowledgement, Richardson named Coleman and added that the latter has performed for the national team and on an individual level whenever it mattered.
"I would say Christian Coleman. And I would say Christian Coleman, due to the fact that he has shown up and done things that other male U.S. track and field athletes have not been able to do in such a long time. He continues to show up and represent himself, Team USA, Nike," she added during her interview with USA Today.
Sha'Carri Richardson also said that the level of commitment Coleman has towards the discipline is unheard of in some of the younger athletes.
