Two-time Olympic medalist wrestler Kyle Dake recently took on former MMA artist Chael Sonnen after the latter shared his thoughts on being defeated in a one-on-one match. Sonnen opened up about the same in a podcast with FloWrestling.

During the conversation, Sonnen was asked if Dake could overcome him in a one-on-one contest, to which he claimed that it wasn't possible. The wrestler immediately responded by tweeting on May 30 that he would pin Sonnen down to the ground.

However, that wasn't all. Dake took a jibe further at the former MMA artist by uploading an excerpt of his conversation on his Instagram story, with the following caption,

"Hey @sonnench come to @vitalitywellnessclub and we will get you fixed up with that concussion you are dealing with"

Nearly a month after losing the US Open Wrestling Championship finals, Kyle Dake also shared an inspirational message for his followers on his Instagram profile. The 34-year-old wrestler captioned his post,

"Grateful for the battle scars and having fun while I do it. I don’t have all the answers but just enjoying the ride! [Isaiah 55:8–9]"

Kyle Dake will be seen next in action at the World Wrestling Championships, which is scheduled to be held in Zagreb, Croatia, this year.

Kyle Dake had previously overcome the challenge posed by Carter Starocci in the finals of the World Team Trials ahead of the World Wrestling Championships. However, the final bout was marred by controversy, especially around Starocci's takedown, for which he was not awarded points.

In the post-match interview, Dake revealed how a little bit of strategy made all the difference. In his words,

"You know, 6 seconds left. Keep your hands down, probably for me. You know, a little bit of strategy at the end there, thinking you know, one point step out, they haven't been calling cautioning very much. They made a point to call it this time. So, hopefully, they continue to do that and just call it normal. But, you know, hats off to him, close takedown at the end. Luckily, I got the chest wrap the whole time and yeah just, really thankful, you know."

Dake also appreciated Starocci for his efforts and his disciplined attitude. The Ithaca native will be competing next against Zahid Valencia at the Final X tournament, which will be held in mid-June 2025.
