Sha'Carri Richardson expressed her growing appreciation for her natural hair on social media. Recently, Richardson joined Gabby Thomas and Tara Davis Woodhall to help expand Athlos into a team-based league.
Sha'Carri Richardson opened her 2025 track season on May 18 at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo. The reigning 100m Champion finished fourth in the women’s 100m, clocking 11.47s behind McCreath, training partner Tee Tee Terry, and Bree Rizzo.
The American sprinter is also known for her variety of hairstyles, which she often showcases at events. On Sunday, June 8, Richardson showed off her natural curly hair on Instagram. In the video story, she expressed her love for her natural hair and said she hopes to wear it more often.
“I really love my natural hair. I just wish I could do it more often, but it's okay. I'm gonna learn,” she said.

Sha'Carri Richardson ended her 2024 Olympic campaign with two medals. She finished second in the 100m, clocking 10.87s, behind Julien Alfred. Following this win, Richardson helped lead Team USA in the 4x100m relay and secured her first Olympic gold.
Richardson started preparing for the 2025 season in November last year and skipped the indoor season this year. She hasn’t run an indoor race since 2019.
When Sha’Carri Richardson stressed on the importance of diversity in sports

Speaking with ESSENCE in December 2024, after her successful Paris run, Sha'Carri Richardson reflected on her thoughts about advancing track and field through diversity in looks and style.
“I feel like track and field sometimes does a disservice, especially on the women’s side, by creating a certain narrative of how the track woman should look. I feel like that does a disservice to some of our women athletes — who may not be the biggest names or have the biggest contracts, but they still are people. They still dedicate their lives. They still get out there and show up,” she explained.
Richardson didn’t compete at Tokyo 2020 due to her suspension but rebounded strongly in 2024, winning two medals, gold and silver.
She shared about the gold-winning moment at Paris, adding:
“It was a phenomenal moment, and I honestly was honored just to do that, with ladies who trusted me to be their anchor and to help us all bring that gold back to the States.”
Sha’Carri Richardson will next compete at the 2025 Prefontaine Classic, slated for July 5.
