Simone Biles is once again under the spotlight after her terrific performance in the US Olympic gymnastics trials. She stunned her fans after winning the Best Comeback Performance of the Year Award at the ESPY Awards 2024, a few days after punching her ticket to the Paris Olympics.

Biles has also won two more ESPY Awards in her career. At the 2017 ESPY Awards, she was named Best US Female Olympian and Best Female Athlete. In 2019 and 2021, the 27-year-old was nominated for Best Female Athlete but did not win.

After withdrawing from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics midway, citing mental health concerns, Biles went on a two-year break after this incident and then made her comeback during the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, where she won four gold medals and one silver medal.

In the recent US Olympic trials, the four-time Olympic gold medalist scored the highest score of 117.225 points and qualified for the Paris Olympics.

Simone Biles opens up about making her comeback

Simone Biles was ecstatic after making her comeback at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She said that she was proud of her efforts and was excited to keep going ahead.

"It still proves to myself and other people that I can do it, so I'm proud of the work that I've put in to get to this point, and it's just exciting that I just keep going up, up each and every year, so I'm excited for what's to come," Biles said.

She also spoke about becoming the first gymnast to win the all-around title in two different decades.

"I was emotional because 10 years I won my first Worlds, now we're back here," Biles said. "So, it was emotional. It means everything to me, the fight, everything that I've put in to get back to this place to feel comfortable and confident enough to compete."

The ESPY Awards 2024 are not the first time Biles has won the Best Comeback of the Year Award. She also won the Laureus World Comeback of the Year Award in April 2024. Following the win, Laureus Sports congratulated Biles for her accomplishment on Instagram:

"The 2024 Laureus World Comeback of the Year Award winner is Simone Biles. The iconic gymnast made a record-breaking return to competition last year, winning four gold medals in the World Championship including a record sixth all-around title."

Simone Biles is expected to compete next at the Paris Olympics, which are scheduled to be held from July 26–August 11.
