Simone Biles’ husband and Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens has said the gymnast arrived in a Range Rover on their first date in 2020. The couple opened up on the ‘Simone Biles: Rising’ docuseries, which premiered on Netflix on Wednesday, July 17.
Biles and Owens met through an online dating app, Raya, in March 2020. It was the seven-time Olympic medalist who initiated the conversation, while Owens had no idea of Biles’ popularity.
Chatting eventually turned into dating, with the couple going on their first date in the same month. The Bears safety revealed a few details about their first date in 'Simone Biles: Rising' documentary.
"It was just funny. I remember when she pulled up in her little Range Rover, I was like, 'Okay I see you, girl. Got your little Range Rover, and then pulled up on me,'" he recalled.

While Jonathan Owens was flattened by the Range Rover, he got scared when Biles jumped out of the car.
"He said it scared him at first, how short I was," Simone Biles revealed.
Owens explained that it was because he had never met someone as short as Biles.
"I've never met someone, like that tall. I was like, 'Oh shoot' you kind of small, okay,'" Owens added.
Jonathan Owens fell for Simone Biles a month after they started dating
Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles met just before the COVID-19 pandemic took over, letting the two enjoy more time with each other. Quickly after meeting on Raya, they started going for regular dates. But it wasn't until a month when Owens realized he was falling.
"[It was] probably about a month in, when we were really kind of hanging out every weekend," he told Today in 2022 (via People).
Owens added that his dog had also started loving Biles.
"We just kind of started hanging out more and more and you start to want to see a person… I started to want to see her more. My dog really loved her," he added.
They officially announced the relationship later in August after Biles shared a cozy picture of Owens kissing her on the neck. The couple got engaged in February 2022 and tied the knot a year later in April 2023.
