Simone Biles' former coach, Cecile Landi, reacted to Jonathan Owens' gymnastics-inspired celebration after scoring a forced fumble in the recent NFL match-up against the Minnesota Vikings. Despite Owens' best efforts, the Chicago Bears ultimately lost to the Vikings.
Landi, a former gymnast representing France, began coaching Simone Biles at the World Champions Center in 2017. As Biles' personal coach and assistant head coach of the girls' competitive program, Landi and her husband Laurent guided their athletes to several podium finishes. As the head coach of the Olympic team in Paris, she led the US women's gymnastics team to gold, an improvement from their silver medal at Tokyo 2021.
Simone Biles' former coach was named co-head coach of the University of Geogia's gymnastics team alongside Ryan Roberts earlier this year. Following the Olympic success, she shifted her focus to training collegiate gymnasts but continues to support and show love to her former mentees, especially Biles.
At the recent NFL match-up between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings in Week 19, Biles' husband, Jonathan Owens, scored a forced fumble. To celebrate his achievement, he struck the iconic celebratory pose of his wife with his hands up in the air.
The adorable moment captured an excited reaction from Biles and prompted her former coach to appreciate Owens for acing the celebration.
"Great job @jowens no deduction on that one!!!" Landi captioned her Instagram story.
After Biles' well-publicized struggles with the 'twisties' at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Landi played a crucial role in her recovery and even helped normalize conversations about mental health.
Simone Biles was appointed as a playoff advisor at The Voice
Recently, Team Snoop welcomed Simone Biles as a playoff advisor in the singing reality show, The Voice. Given Biles' extensive experience and knowledge in the world of gymnastics, Snoop Dogg believes she can provide valuable insights to the contestants.
"We have the best experience and knowledge to give to these performers. She’s a performer. I’m a performer. We’ve performed under extreme conditions. We always do our best. But sometimes things happen behind closed doors that you don’t know about. So, we’re able to speak to those things and give them real reassurance," he said. (via The Associated Press)
Biles, on her part, revealed how she and Dogg instilled confidence in the contestants
"We’re both very mellow. But if we need to bring that energy up, then we can. For us, it was about instilling confidence going into the next week.”
Biles recently concluded the second edition of the Gold Over America tour on November 3, 2024, after touring 30 cities across the US.
