Riley Gaines recently praised a New Hampshire high school soccer team after they refrained from facing a team fielding a transgender player. Bishop Brady fortified a game against Kearsarge Regional High School.
The Kearsarge Regional High School soccer team reportedly included a transgender goalkeeper against whom, the other team withdrew from facing. They allowed the transgender player to compete with the team after a voting session.
The decision was made in accordance with a state law that allowed transgender students to compete based on their gender identity. However, Gaines, who has been a vocal advocate of women's safety in sports and a fierce dissenter of transgender athletes in women's sports, praised the New Hampshire High School soccer team for their action.
She lauded the soccer team with medals and t-shirts with "BOYcott" written on them. Further, the former NCAA swimmer also shared a picture of the team with the medals and penned a supportive message.
"A high school soccer team in New Hampshire forfeited a game against a team with a male player posing as a girl," Gaines wrote. "@RileyGCenter presented their team with BOYcott shirts and a medal of courage for standing up for themselves when no one else would."
"This is the way," she added.
