Suni Lee talked about the difficulty of navigating life without gymnastics

Suni Lee rose to prominence with her gold-winning feat in the all-around at the Tokyo Olympics, but the sport piqued her interest at six. She has been training since a very young age and earned several podiums in the senior elite, including one gold, a silver, and a bronze at the 2019 World Championships.
She also competed at Auburn University in the NCAA, but ended her collegiate career prematurely due to a rare kidney issue. Sitting out of the mat for months, she returned at the 2024 Winter Cup and then competed in Paris. Besides the team gold, she bagged the all-around and uneven bars bronze medals.
Now on a break from the sport, Suni Lee discussed how living away from gymnastics has been the most difficult part of her new journey.
"Trying to learn how to live life without gymnastics has been the hardest thing. I've been doing gymnastics for 17 years, and I've never had a break from it." (via HOKA TV)
She also opened up about the time she felt that her career almost ended.
"I left during my sophomore year because I ended up getting sick with three kidney diseases at the time. Now I have two. It was such a hard moment because I didn't know what was going on. Not knowing if I was ever going to do gymnastics again," she added.
Lee was one of the celebrities to attend the 2024 US Open and the New York Fashion Week in designer fits.
