Sha'Carri Richardson finally began her outdoor Olympic season after a long hiatus from the track and field circuit. She was speculated to make several appearances earlier this year, but the world champion chose the Xiamen Diamond League to kickstart her season as she aims for a spot on the United States Olympics team this summer.

Sha'Carri Richardson finished second in the 200m finals of her season opener at the Xiamen League 2024. She was ousted by 19-year-old upcoming Australian athlete Torrie Lewis, who clocked 22.96 to take home the title.

Fans were quick to pass their judgment and opinion on Richardson's performance because she was the World Champion. A fan trolled the American athlete for her performance which then became a matter of discussion among fans on X.

"Sha’Carri Richardson lost, so in order to deflect, she started fidgeting with her hair, and the camera was panned on her, not the 19-year-old winner from Australia. I know that defense mechanism; it’s called shame," wrote the fan.

"I feel good about the season openeer, kind of late for me to open up so I know what I need to work on. Me and my coach, I'm pretty sure by the time I get back to the warm up area, he's already formulating on how to get better for the next race, so I'm excited for my next meet," she said.
