Noah Lyles recently revealed why he was not part of Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track, sharing that he wasn't getting paid enough. The League's first stop was in April 2025 in Jamaica, and it is now all set for its fourth stop in Los Angeles.

Lyles made his 2025 season debut on January 26 at the RADD Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, where he competed in the 60m event. He stood atop the podium after recording a time of 6.62s, defeating Caleb Dean and Udodi Onwuzurike, who claimed the second and third places, respectively.

Currently, the American is gearing up for the upcoming major outdoor events of the season, and amid this, he made an appearance on the talk show 'Funky Friday.' Here, the Olympic champion opened up about why he didn't compete in GST, revealing that he wasn't getting paid enough. He said that he turned down Johnson's offer because it didn't match his worth.

"I've worked very long to increase my value in this sport. When he came to me and asked me to be a part of it, he gave me a number and we said that number is not a fraction of what my worth is right now. And this is before the Olympics. We came back to him after the Olympics. I said I still like what you're doing. I'd like to be a part of it, but if I'm not going to financially gain on one side, I have to market wise get value from it. And at the time, he could not give me enough reason in my head to believe that I was going to market wise get enough value from it," said Noah Lyles (1:00 onward).

Apart from the RADD Invitational, Noah Lyles has also competed in various other events in the 2025 season so far, including the Boston Grand Prix and the Tom Jones Memorial.

Noah Lyles once opened up about his struggles growing up with asthma as an athlete

Noah Lyles had a stellar run at the Paris Olympics, winning two medals, including a gold in the 100m race and a bronze in the 200m dash. Shortly after this campaign, Lyles made an appearance on the podcast Everybody Wants To Be Us, where he opened up about the adversities he navigated while suffering from asthma.

Revealing that he got diagnosed with asthma at a very young age, the sprinter said:

"It's funny because when I first started running, this used to be a very big conversation, then it died out and it's been coming back up again. I think at like three years old is when they officially diagnosed you with asthma and it was truly just you know, breathing machines, hospital visits, late nights up with my mom, going through coughing fits and, you know, of course, if you get sick and you get asthma they merge together and you get a super sickness."
"So, there was a point in my life where I just thought that this is going to be forever, you know, I was just going to deal with this as an adult, as a teen. I'll grow old. Shoot, am I going to grow old?" he added.

Amid the ongoing season, Noah Lyles recently appeared on the Met Gala 2025 red carpet. He donned a black and white suit with golden and pearl jewelry designed by Ana Corey. Following this, he attended the Met Gala's after-party with his fiancée, Junelle Bromfield.
