The Shanghai Diamond League 2024 witnessed stellar action on Saturday night. The high-profile event witnessed some major upstages in both men's and women's competitions as American sprinters, who were absolute favorites entering the competition, suffered defeats at the hands of underdogs.

Men's 100m was deemed to be a fierce battle between Christian Coleman and Fred Kerley, who produced a nail-hitting finish in Xiamen earlier last week as the former edged Kerley by a narrow 0.04s to win the race. However, none of them were able to win the Shanghai League 2024.

South Africa's Akini Simbine clocked a season-best timing of 10.01s to win the 100m showdown while Coleman and Kerley finished off in 10.04s and 10.11s respectively.

The women's 200m saw Sha'Carri Richardson being left behind yet again at the Shanghai Diamond League 2024 as British Olympian Daryll Neita returned to the Diamond League in style. She clocked 22.62s to beat Richardson, and Anavia Battle of United States, who recorded the times of 22.99s and 23.11s respectively.

Sha'Carri Richardson was slower than the Xiamen meet, where she had clocked 22.99s while Anavia Battle posted her season’s best timing. Let's take a look at the top athletes who recorded their season’s best timing at the Shanghai Diamond League 2024.
