Former American alpine skier Lindsey Vonn recently claimed that she was feeling ‘nervous’ about presenting the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year Award 2023, whose winner will be announced on April 22 in Madrid.

The nominees for the World Sportswoman of the Year Award were released in late December last year. The list is headlined by Mikaela Shiffrin and Sha’Carri Richardson of the United States, both of whom had record-breaking campaigns in 2023. While Shiffrin became the most successful skier of all time in World Cups with 87 wins (now 97), Richardson won the 100m gold at the 2023 World Championships in a meet record of 10.65s, which also made her the 5th-fastest of all time in the discipline.

The other nominees for the award include Aitana Bonmati of Spain, Shericka Jackson of Jamaica, Iga Swiatek of Poland, and Faith Kipyegon of Kenya. With 2 American athletes in contention, Lindsey Vonn claimed she was feeling nervous about presenting the award.

Speaking with Laureus ahead of the award ceremony, Vonn expressed that she was always ‘nervous’ about presenting something. She said:

“I'm always nervous to be presenting anything but especially Laureus because yeah, all my friends are here and I obviously want to do the best job possible for the person that I'm giving the award to.”

In a story on her Instagram handle, Lindsey Vonn expressed that she was excited to present the Sportswoman of the Year Award 2023.

"So excited for tonight! I'm presenting the award to Best Female Athlete", Vonn wrote.
