Vonn was seen getting back on the surfing board as she had an initial struggle getting up and balancing on the board. She was still wearing a kneecap to support her operated right knee.

"BIG DAY!!! Got back to doing something I love, wake-surfing! I’ve been building up to this since surgery and i know it’s only been a few weeks but I DID IT!! I got up on my FIRST try!! Throughout her career, Lindsey Vonn struggled with knee issues. She had terrible injuries during competition and needed minor surgery to help her heal so she could continue competing and extending her career. These small operations, however, were not a long-term fix because the problems eventually returned with hindering effects.

She gave a thorough explanation of her decision, to eventually have a partial knee replacement, on Instagram.

"After a lot of thought, research, and talking to many doctors, I made the decision to get a knee replacement. I have severe tri-compartment degeneration but the main compartment that has been painful is the lateral compartment, or the outside of my knee. But I got to the point where it was too much and my knee could not handle doing the things I love to do," read an excerpt from her post.

Despite retiring from the sport in 2019, Lindsey Vonn continues to be an inspiration to the upcoming generations.
