“It was very, very hard on me”— Sharon Osbourne shares how she felt about daughter Aimee not joining ‘The Osbournes’ series

The Osbournes star Sharon Osbourne recently opened up about feeling “terrible” about her daughter Aimee Osbourne not being a part of the family’s hit 2000s reality series. In an appearance on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast in April, Sharon revealed that Aimee didn’t want the attention the series brought.

“It was very, very hard on me because we were traveling all over the world, we were doing a million things, and Aimee wasn’t a part of it,” Sharon recalled.

Aimee Osbourne is the eldest daughter of Sharon Osbourne and heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne. Unlike her more famous siblings, Kelly and Jack, who both appeared on the reality show, Aimee opted to stay out of the limelight.

The April 30 episode of the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast featured a celebrity guest appearance from reality TV star, actress, and music manager Sharon Osbourne. Comedian Howie Mandel asked Sharon if she still managed her kids’ careers. The reality TV star revealed that she doesn’t anymore but used to do so only when they were kids.

The comedian asked Sharon if there ever was a discussion between Sharon and her daughter, Aimee Osbourne, when the latter decided to opt out of being on the Osbourne family’s hit MTV reality show, The Osbournes. Sharon revealed that there was a discussion “in the beginning.”

When asked if Aimee’s choice was hard on her, as mentioned above, Sharon talked about how it was extremely hard for her as Aimee was not involved in many of the family's activities.

"It made me feel terrible because I didn’t have my whole family," Sharon Osbourne recalled. "She (Aimee) just didn’t want the attention. She was 18, that’s a tough age for a girl, and she just didn’t want it."

Osbourne revealed that Aimee still does not like the attention. According to Sharon, Aimee loved writing and singing but did not want to be a “pop star.” Aimee did not even want any involvement in the family’s podcast, The Osbournes Podcast.

"She (Aimee) wants to be a professional singer and writer. That’s it. She’s not looking for fame and power. She’s happy doing what she does," Sharon, a former X Factor judge, said.

The Osbournes, an MTV reality series that showcased the home and family life of ‘The Prince of Darkness,’ Ozzy Osbourne, was a huge hit in the early 2000s. The show premiered in 2002 and ran until 2005 for four successful years and 52 episodes featuring the Osbourne family.

The show acted as a huge launchpad for the careers of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s kids, Jack and Kelly Osbourne, but also featured a noticeable absence of the eldest Osbourne sibling, Aimee Osbourne. The show even won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Non-Fiction Program (Reality) in its debut season.

On the other hand, Aimee Osbourne was not too fond of the fame that the show brought. In a 2020 interview with the Q104.3 radio station in New York, Aimee opened up about not wanting to be part of the show.

"To me, I’d grown up around having a pretty well-known dad anyway, and I always really valued my privacy within that family," Aimee said, adding, "For me personally, for who I am, as far as morally, and also just to give myself a chance to actually develop into a human being as opposed to just being remembered for being a teenager, it didn’t really line up with what I saw my future as."

As Sharon Osbourne mentioned in the podcast, Aimee Osbourne is a singer who performs vocals for her band ARO. ARO released its debut single, Raining Gold, in 2015 and its debut studio album, Vacare Adamaré, in 2020. The band's latest single, Against Mine, came out in 2022.
