RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 9 kicked off with the simultaneous release of two episodes on May 17 on Paramount+. The episodes introduced eight fan-favorite queens from the past seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race, all vying for the chance to win a $200,000 prize for their chosen charity.

Similar to All-Stars season 7, season 9 follows a format without eliminations. Instead, the best performer will be provided badges every week. The queens with the highest number of badges will compete against each other in the final week.

In the first episode, Angeria Paris Vanmichaels won the benefactress badge alongside Jorgeous, but also got the cut-off in episode 2. In episode 2, Gottmik won and shared her benefactress badge with Plastique Tiara. Episode 1 cut-off was Roxxxy Andrews. Cutting off a contestant meant that they couldn't earn the benefactress badge in the following episode, i.e., episode 2.

What went down in RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 9 episodes 1 and 2?

How did Angeria Paris VanMichaels win episode 1 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Star?

Angeria made a memorable impression in the show's first episode by excelling in the competition. The queens had to write their own rendition of a verse from RuPaul's song Drag Queens Save The World and perform it.

Her stellar verse, paired with her funny "Le Southern Belle" perfume line for The Signature Look, put her right in the line for the benefactress badge alongside Jorgeous. However, Jorgeous was left behind in a lip-sync with this queen, which won her the episode.

How did Gottmik win episode 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars?

In episode 2, the main task was to have the queens do the Paintball, a competition in which the contestants had to dress for three separate runways. Gottmik, having previously won this challenge during her season, secured victory once again.

However, she had to compete against Plastique Tiara in the episode's lip sync, which she won, ultimately winning the episode.

Jorgeous' performance on Drag Queens Save the World by RuPaul also stole the show, much like her fellow contemporary, Angeria Paris VanMichaels. Her choice of fragrance, weed and poppers, for The Signature Look was bold and impressive, earning her the benefactress badge for episode 1, alongside Angeria.

Plastique Tiara also made her mark in The Paintball, as she boldly walked three runways. She would've surely been the frontrunner if Gottmik wasn't there. Her remarkable performance got her the benefactress badge alongside Gottmik, but she didn't last in the lip-sync battle against her.

Why was Roxxxy Andrews cut off in episode 1 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars?

After winning the first episode, Angeria Paris VanMichaels chose to cut off Roxxxy Andrews, as she seemed like a strong competitor to Angeria. Cutting off a contestant meant that they couldn't earn the benefactress badge in the following episode, i.e., episode 2.

However, Angeria's choice to cut off Roxxxy was deemed useless because she didn't make it to the top two in episode 2. Instead, it was Gottmik and Plastique Tiara who aced it.

Why was Angeria Paris VanMichaels cut off in episode 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars?

After Angeria's episode-winning performance in the first episode, Gottmik blocked her from winning the benefactress badge in the upcoming, episode 3. Now it is for the fans to see if Gottmik's choice to prevent Angeria from winning the benefactress proves useful.
