Episode 16 of The Voice season 26 was released on November 25. It was part 2 of the Playoffs round and documented the contestants facing off against their own team to advance into the Live Shows segment of the show. The previous episode 15 of The Voice saw Gwen Stefani's team go at it in the Playoffs. Now, part 2 of it was to cover Snoop Dogg and Reba McEntire's teams in the playoffs, before Michael Bublé's team got featured in part 3.
For the Playoffs round, each coach had to choose two artists out of their five total artists to take to the Live Shows round, sending three home. Assisting Snoop with the Playoffs was Olympian Simone Biles, while country artist Lainey Wilson helped Reba.
Edward Preble belonged to team Reba. At only 19 years of age, he chose to sing All of Me by Frank Sinatra. And even though he did good justice to the legend's creation, Adam Bohanan and Danny Joseph from his team outdid him and advanced further, leaving him behind.
Fans of The Voice came to X to react to his performance, as some enjoyed it, while others thought his elimination was apt.
"Edward Preble doing a little two-step behind the mic brought an instant smile & then the smooth vocals came in. Not the most interesting song he could have chosen but a sweet simple vibe that showcased style well," said one fan.
"@reba Edward needs white cuffs showing at his wrists so his hands don't look quite so long. They also showed a picture of him in a fedora and it looked perfect," said another fan.
"Yall need to understand that edward found HIS music. Yes we would love to hear him in different genres but that's not what he wants or he himself chooses to do. He did phenomenal on his performance and honestly brought out more of his personality," a third one commented.
"EDWARD DID SOO GOOOD," another commented.
Some fans of The Voice thought Edward was repetitive and thought his expulsion was justified.
"Edward. He does a good job as a Frank Sinatra impersonator. But by now his coach should have him doing other things to see if he has any range. It's the same thing every time," an X user commented.
"Me if Edward gets eliminated after weeks of badly imitating Sinatra," another X user commented.
"I love Edward so much," commented one.
"About Edward's playoffs performance? Well at least he kept his style and his singing demeanor. Honestly, the whole performance was very good and very interesting... and his mannerisms were surprising honestly," another commented.
Edward Preble's performance and coach's takes on him on The Voice season 26 episode 22
When Edward Prebble chose to sing All of Me by Frank Sinatra, Lainey Wilson, who was there to help Reba McEntire, his coach, for the Playoffs selection, said Edward was an "endearing" personality as she noted his stage presence.
During his performace, the 19-year-old also did a little dance with his feet, making his performance even more remarkable.
After his performace, Michale Bublé said that he found him " so cute". Lainey and Reba too praised his performance but eventually decided against taking him to the Live Shows segment.
