Yellowstone brought five seasons worth of intense, dramatically heavy, sometimes violent scenes and episodes. That said, certain scenes are cut above the rest, and one great example is the shoplifting scene involving Kelsey Asbille's Monica Dutton, who is married to the family via her husband, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes).Yellowstone's shoplifting scene was in season 2 episode 9, titled Enemies by Monday. Monica Dutton is accused of shoplifting by a boutique's owner, leading to her being strip-searched by the police. However, Beth (Kelly Reilly), her sister-in-law, comes to her rescue and makes the owner pay, including destroying the store.Beth has always been a fierce character, borderline angry, and she's hell-bent on protecting the Duttons from any outsiders. With Monica married to the family, the reach of Beth's protection includes her, as seen in the boutique scene. Season 2 episode 9 clearly represents what it feels like to be in Beth's corner and what it's like when she focuses her anger and revenge on one person.Did Monica really shoplift in Yellowstone season 2 episode 9?Monica Dutton didn't shoplift in Yellowstone season 2 episode 9, but the boutique owner, Veronica (Allison Dunbar), accuses her of the crime. In the episode, Monica goes shopping, and she happens to go to a high-end boutique, but Veronica is racist, and Monica is part of the Broken Rock Indian Reservation. It's an upsetting scene to watch to have Monica, the gentle soul in the Dutton family, become a victim of racism and bullying. Moreover, it didn't stop with Veronica accusing her of shoplifting. While Monica quickly realizes why Veronica is targeting her and decides to leave the store at one, the store owner calls the police on her.Monica calls Beth Dutton for help instead of calling her husband. Beth comes to her rescue, no questions asked. But when Beth arrives on the scene, she finds Monica in the fitting room in the midst of a violating strip search. While the police claim that the search was "voluntary," Beth rightfully points out that it doesn't look like Monica volunteered to be searched. It's clear in the beginning that Monica didn't do what Veronica is accusing her of. Beth, after the shoplifting scene, tells Monica why she thinks Veronica did what she did, saying:"She looked at you and she [saw someone] younger, prettier, better. She f**king hates you for it."Read more: Why can't Beth have kids in Yellowstone? How did Beth avenge Monica in Yellowstone's shoplifting scene? As most Yellowstone fans know, it's never good if Beth is involved, especially if she's angry. In Yellowstone season 2 episode 9, she doesn't look angry. In fact, she looks calm, but what she does to the store and to Veronica is one of her meanest acts in the series. After the police leave, Beth turns her quiet anger towards Veronica, who turns out to be someone she knows from school.Beth smashes the glass counters of the store, but Beth's revenge doesn't stop there. She does to Veronica what she did to Monica, forcing her to strip down in the middle of the store she owns. However, Monica intercepts Beth before she can fully humiliate Veronica, saying:"Doing it to her doesn't undo what she did to me."In the end, she is content to have Veronica admit that she judged her because of her skin, then framed her for shoplifting because of that, and ask for forgiveness.Catch all five seasons of Yellowstone streaming on Peacock.
