There is no doubt that the protagonist of Dept. Q on Netflix, DCI Carl Morck rubs people the wrong way. However, personally and as perceived by many others, there's an air of rebelliousness about him that makes him immensely likable by the same token.

Certainly, a foul-mouthed, rebellious detective, prone to lose his temper and composure, does not make for a good law enforcement officer. Luckily, such a character makes for great television moments, and is thus the focal point of Dept. Q.

Writer and Director Scott Frank was very candid about what he admires about the misanthropic detective.

"I mean we all wish sometimes we would have no filter and could say what we’re saying in a moment. He certainly does that. But I also think…I am sometimes mortified by his behaviour. But at the same time I am always laughing at it. I can’t believe it in a way that is entertaining to me," Scott Frank said.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, he also outlined just how thrilled he is with the latest Netflix procedural.

"This is pretty high I would say. I would say this ranks definitely up there. I really enjoyed the experience. It was a very difficult experience in many ways. But I also really enjoyed it and felt like I got a lot out of it," he added.

"It’s definitely up there and I really feel like sometimes, you go through a hard shoot and watch what you’ve done and it’s kind of missing the mark, for me. Myself personally. This one I’m really happy with. Are there things I would do differently if I had more time or whatever? Sure. There always is," he said.

Frank did admit that, given more time, he would perhaps have done things differently in the show. But for what it eventually turned out to be, he is very happy.

"But I do feel like, as I get older, that I can accept that I had to let it go at a certain point. And I can accept what it is. I like what it is. And respect what it is. And so, I feel pretty good about it. I do feel pretty good about it," he further added.

Much of the show deals with difficult subjects pertaining to mental health. But when asked about how much research Frank had to do for Dept. Q, he had an interesting response.

"What if I told you none? (Laughs). I don’t recall any research. Listen. Lots of therapy. Lots of people in my life who are nuts. Lots of friends who are bats**t crazy as well. I just have kind of at this point seen enough to recognize certain things. I don’t think I can have a deeper conversation but I can definitely establish a character who is going through some of these things," Frank said.
