The Boys season 4 episode 7, the penultimate episode this season, premiered on Prime Video on July 11, 2024. Titled The Insider, it followed the titular group as Butcher was put back in charge and they tried investigating who Homelander had hired to assassinate Bob Singer. This was a huge outing that not only set up the finale but also raised the stakes in a major way.

Many important developments took place in The Boys season 4 episode 7. From A-Train being revealed to be the leak, to Annie being trapped in a mysterious place by a shapeshifter - the season truly set up its finale in a huge way that will certainly have fans anticipating what's to come next.

From Annie trying to escape while being trapped, to The Boys trying to stop Bob Singer's assassination run, fans can expect a lot to go down in the upcoming episode 8.

What can fans expect from The Boys season 4 episode 8?

The shapeshifter pretending to be Annie

In episode 7, Annie was kidnapped by the shapeshifter who was set to kill Bob Singer at his rally, following the kidnapping, the supe then took Annie's place at Hughie's house. Given that Hughie and the rest of the group didn't know that the real Annie was trapped in a mysterious place, we saw the shapeshifting supe trying to pass off as Annie and further fooling the group.

Going into The Boys season 4 finale, fans can expect the shapeshifter to use this opportunity to get further closer to Bob Singer and carry out Homelander's mission to assassinate him. However, fans can also expect to see Annie try and make her way out of wherever she is trapped in right now.

Kessler taking over Butcher

By the end of the episode, Billy fainted and fell onto the bar floor with Kessler sitting and smiling at the occurrence. Given that the last time Butcher blacked out, Kessler took full control over him to kill Ezekiel, hinting at the fact that he might have superpowers of his own.

Given that Butcher is pretty much nearing the end of his life right now, fans can expect to see Kessler take full control over Billy. Not to mention, if that happens, he might also just go ahead with the supe-genocide which Billy has been pretty against - and it would also become easy for him as Frenchie is currently cooking up another batch of the virus that can kill supes.

However, given that Billy is resilient, he might, of course, put up a fight against Kessler.

Homelander and Ryan's relationship souring

Ryan took a pretty big step in The Boys season 4 episode 7 when he once again went against his father's wishes. While Homelander wanted Ryan to do the Christmas special that would help spread Vought propaganda, his son decided to denounce the message of the special live on air and spoke about how his mom wouldn't want him to do something like this.

With Homelander looking over at the screen shocked, we can also expect Ryan and his relationship with Homelander to sour further. Given that Homelander has had a hard time bringing Ryan on his side, this might just hurt the leader of the Seven in the worst way possible.

The Boys season 4 finale will premiere next week on July 18, 2024.
