A brief recap of The Institute season 1 episode 7

The flash drive Maureen gave Luke contains footage of kids in the Back Half and reveals how their dead bodies are thrown into the incinerator once their purpose is fulfilled. Officer Drew, a secret agent of the institute, kills Chief Ashworth before he can connect Tim and Luke with the right help in Portland. He and Sigsby chase Tim and Luke through the town and finally locate them at Wendy's house.

However, Tim avenges Ashworth's death by shooting Drew. When Luke accuses Sigsby of exploiting young kids to carry out remote assassinations, she reveals that the victims were destined to cause catastrophic events in the future. Hence, eliminating them early has, on several occasions, prevented the world from imminent danger.

At the institute, Stackhouse and Hendricks send Avery to the deprivation tank to enhance his psychic powers, but he ends up smashing the glass walls. He is sent to the Back Half and reunites with Nicky and Kalisha. Realizing the full potential of his powers, Avery assures his friends he will rescue them soon.
