Investigation Discovery's upcoming special Text K to Kill is all set to cover the brutal murder of Brendan Creato, who was murdered by his own father, DJ Creato, aka David Creato Jr., who later pleaded guilty to the same. Dating back to 2015, this is still one of the most haunting cases in the history of Haddon Township, New Jersey.

The upcoming special will air on April 27, 2024, at 10 pm EST. It will cover the horrific details of the case, which saw David Creato Jr., better known to friends and acquaintances as DJ Creato, strangle his three-year-old son, Brendan, to death. A brief synopsis for the episode reads:

"Three-year-old Brendan Creato is found dead in a Haddon Township, New Jersey, creek."

DJ Creato was ultimately arrested and charged with the murder after the authorities found a mountain of evidence against him and none of his statements did justice to the story. Creato was ultimately sent to prison for 10 years with eligibility for parole after eight years and six months. He continues to remain in prison as of now and will be eligible for parole later in 2024.

Why did DJ Creato kill his son Brendan Creato?

Brendan Creato was born to DJ Creato and his high school sweetheart Samantha Denoto, but the two later separated after Creato was caught cheating on her. Despite this, they continued to share the custody of Brendan Creato, who often stayed over at DJ's place.

At the time of the murder, DJ was dating a 17-year-old girl named Julia, and she seemed to have a problem with DJ's baby. The two had allegedly discussed in length about this baby and their disdain for the same. These were uncovered later by the authorities while investigating DJ Creato.

On October 12, 2015, Brendan was staying at DJ's house. The next morning DJ called his mother in a panicky tone and revealed that Brendan was missing. The authorities were almost immediately involved.

After three hours of searching, A K-9 unit in Cooper River Park discovered little Brendan's lifeless body. The boy was found lying face down, partially submerged, and still dressed in his night clothes. While the exact cause of death was hard to determine at once, the police soon singled down strangulation as the most likely cause of death.

Anyhow, it was clear that it was a homicide and not an accident. The lack of mud in Brendan's socks and pajamas also proved this.

Police soon started looking into DJ and Julia, and it was not long before they discovered a string of text messages that confirmed their suspicion. Julia had also reportedly told David Creato to either choose Brendan or her. Moreover, DJ's social media activity did not align with the claim about him going to sleep early on the night of Brendan's disappearance.

The authorities figured that DJ Creato ended up strangling his son to death out of insecurity about his current relationship.

On January 11, 2016, DJ was arrested for the murder of his child. His initial trial led to a mistrial but in the next one, he pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter. DJ allegedly suffocated his son to death with a pillow before taking him and dumping the body in the creek.

DJ was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He will be eligible for parole on July 9, 2024. As of now, he continues to serve in Bayside State Prison in Leesburg, New Jersey.

The upcoming ID special, Text K to Kill will cover this case in more detail. Stay tuned.
