Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has spoken out about his viral interaction and eventual confrontation with hip-hop star Wale at the 2025 BET Awards. For those unaware, Kai Cenat spoke briefly with Wale but failed to recognize the 40-year-old celebrity. The musician eventually confronted the two-time Streamer of the Year winner at the event, claiming that the video of their interaction "made him look crazy."
"That s**t making me look crazy right now, just letting you know. That's making me look crazy, the exchange that we had on the hallway? (Kai Cenat responds, 'Oh! My bad, bruh.') I mean, they're running with it, we'll talk later."
During a livestream on June 12, 2025, Kai Cenat broke his silence about not being able to recognize Wale at the BET Awards, stating that he is still "young." While wondering how people could "blame him for being who he is," the New Yorker stated:
"Wale, see, I got n***a name right. Wale, I'mma go ahead and say it, like, so Wale, I hope he didn't take my interaction personal. You feel me? Like, bro, I hope he didn't take my interaction personal. How can you blame me for just being who I am? You feel me? Like, I'm young. I'm young. Let me go and see...Matter of fact - let me do my research."
The Twitch streamer then reacted to Wale's music video for Lotus Flower Bomb, and exclaimed:
"N***a, I know this song! Yes! 100%! N***a, this s**t's a banger! This s**t is a f**king classic! I know this song. Bro, when did this come out? 2011...I was nine years old."
Kai Cenat announces his upcoming collaboration with Drake will not be an in-person event
During the same livestream, Kai Cenat announced that his upcoming collaboration with Drake to review viewer submissions for the "Somebody Loves Me" music video would not take place in person. Disclosing that he and the Grammy Award-winning musician will be getting together via Discord, Cenat stated:
"Let me go ahead and say something real quick, so y'all won't be confused - when Drake and I are doing, he will call in. He's calling in through the Cord (Discord). So, it won't be in-person. We're saving the in-person s**t for another crazier stream. All right? Okay? That's going to be over the call."
On May 26, 2025, Kai Cenat made headlines when he disclosed that he owns the intellectual property of Streamer University.
