Playoff-bound Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever take on the LA Sparks on Wednesday at home in their 2024 WNBA season series closer. A dominant 6-1 run after the All-Star and Olympic break saw the Fever bag a playoff spot for the first time after eight years. During this run, the team also improved to a winning record (17-16).
Clark and company's most recent win came on Sunday away against the Dallas Wings. A 36-point performance from Kelsey Mitchell and a 28-point, 12-assist outing from Clark guided the Fever to a 100-93 win.
That brought Indiana closer to clinching a playoff spot, which was sealed on Tuesday after the Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream suffered losses against the Las Vegas Aces and Phoenix Mercury, respectively.
On the other hand, the rebuilding Sparks' woes continued after Sunday's 80-62 loss against the Atlanta Dream. LA is 7-25 on the season and 1-7 since the WNBA season resumed. The lack of firepower in Lexie Brown and Cameron Brink's injury-related absences continues hindering the Sparks' prospects of catching a break and recording some wins before their season ends.
An eighth loss in nine games seems inevitable against Caitlin Clark and the flying Fever team that has arguably been the best in the league since the All-Star and Olympic break ended.
