Chicago Sky rookie sensation Angel Reese is among the captive audience of the ongoing WNBA Finals between the New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx. She, too, is excited to see the series go to a deciding Game 5.
The tightly fought series was sent to a rubber match after the Lynx stayed alive by taking Game 4 at home on Friday, 82-80. It set the stage for what is expected to be another cardiac affair in the winner-take-all on Sunday in Brooklyn.
Reese took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her excitement to see the WNBA Finals go the full route, writing a short but direct reaction:
"GAME 5. YESSSSS"
As has been the case for much of the series, Game 4 of the WNBA Finals went down the wire with both teams showing determination to see their respective causes through.
The two teams fought to an 80-all score with 1:10 to go in the foiurth quarter. Lynx forward Bridget Carleton hit her two free throws with two seconds remaining after being fouled while securing an offensive rebound. New York All-Star guard Sabrina Ionescu had a chance to snatch away the win and thrust the Liberty to the title but her 35-foot 3-pointer failed to hit the mark.
The ongoing best-of-five WNBA Finals has been garnering a lot of attention for the competitive manner it is being played, providing a fitting ending to what has been an eventful WNBA season.
Lynx and Liberty ready to go to battle in Game 5
The New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx go into deep water as their tightly fought WNBA Finals series is set for a do-or-die Game 5 on Sunday in Brooklyn. Both teams have expressed their readiness to go into battle and realize their championship goals this season.
Following the game, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart expressed their readiness to go at it one last time for the title.
"I feel incredible. That was a tough game but I can't wait for Sunday," the Minnesota All-Star said.
"[It's going] to be a quick turnaround and [we have to] be ready for Sunday," Stewart said.
The Lynx used a balanced attack to pad their cause in Game 4, with all their starters scoring in double digits, led by Kayla McBride's 19 points. Courtney Williams had 15, Collier scored 14 and Carleton and Alanna Smith each had 12 points.
For New York, Stewart and Game 3 hero Sabrina Ionescu struggled to 11 and 10 points, respectively, on a combined 10-for-36 shooting. Jonquel Jones, however, had a solid game of 21 points.
Game 5 is set for 8 p.m. ET on Sunday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
