Angel Reese was fresh from the Chicago Sky’s tough loss against the Indiana Fever on Saturday, but congratulated tennis star Coco Gauff for winning the French Open.
Reese expressed her heartfelt reaction to Gauff’s win over world number one tennis player Aryna Sabalenka. Gauff recovered from one set down to capture the title, prompting the Sky star to write her a declaration on social media.
“The Queen,” Reese wrote for Gauff.

Coco Gauff has been regarded as one of the best tennis prodigies in the world, already winning multiple titles at 21. She is ranked second in the world behind Sabalenka.
Meanwhile, Reese’s IG story comes after the Sky lost by 27 points against the Caitlin Clark-less Fever in Chicago. Reese only scored four points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the stunning loss that put their record at 2-7 to start the season.
Reese played 27 minutes in the game and shot 2-of-7 from the field while turning it over three times. The Sky only scored 52 points in the game.
It was the Sky’s second loss against the Fever this season after dropping their WNBA season-opening matchup last month.
Sky head coach Tyler Marsh defended Angel Reese after offensive struggles against the Fever
After Angel Reese’s subpar performance against the Fever, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh came to her defense, suggesting that Reese did not struggle throughout the game. Instead, he felt that the entire team did not play quite well.
"No, I think that we struggled as a team. I don’t think Angel struggled tonight, I think we struggled as a team…It’s not about Angel being better for us, it’s us being better for Angel, and everyone else around. And so, again, it made it tough for anybody to get a rhythm tonight,” Marsh, who was hired in the offseason, said.
Marsh also lauded Reese’s efforts throughout the game, albeit for naught in another Sky loss.
"One thing you don't have to question with Angle is her effort and her energy. And so tonight, I thought she gave us what she could, and she was effective on the glass, and gave what she could defensively as well," the Sky coach said.
Angel Reese’s four-point output was her second-lowest this season after her two-point tally in a loss against the defending champions, the New York Liberty.
The loss snapped the Sky’s two-game winning streak, which followed a four-game slide to start the season.
