Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson added to what has been a historic WNBA season for her as she broke the record for most rebounds in a single season in their home game against the Seattle Storm on Tuesday. Fans moved to celebrate the tremendous feat, taking to social media and expressing their thoughts.
Wilson entered the game needing just three rebounds to break the rebounding record and did not waste too much time eclipsing it. In just five minutes into the match, she pulled down a missed shot from Seattle guard Skylar Diggins-Smith for her 447th rebound. She moved past rookie Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky, who set the previous mark at 446 earlier this season.
Fans lauded the effort of A'ja Wilson for re-writing the record books again. Below are what some of them wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
One fan highlighted Wilson's latest achievement at the expense of the player whose record she topped, Reese, saying:
"Angel reese record broken already."
"'Angel woulda had this one. Good job for now A'ja. We'll take it back next year,' another chimed in."
Many comments, meanwhile, underscored how the rebounding feat was a testament to the standing of Wilson as the best player in the WNBA right now, or even all time.
"'Best Player of the World,' one fan laid down."
"'League of her own, quite literally,' another asserted.
"'Top tier,' one user, for his part, simply put."
Then there were some who plainly congratulated A'ja Wilson and wished her continued success.
"'Keep proving us you're the greatest A'ja!!!. a well-meaning fan wrote.
"'Congrats Aja keep on shining Champ,' another expressed.
The rebounding record came on the heels of Wilson becoming the first player in league history to score more than 1,000 points in a season in their previous game against the Connecticut Sun.
The former South Carolina standout finished with 21 points and seven rebounds as the Aces won, 85-72, to improve to 26-13.
Diana Taurasi says A'ja Wilson "the best rebounder I've ever seen"
WNBA veteran Diana Taurasi is one of those impressed with the kind of season A'ja Wilson is having. The Phoenix Mercury guard highlighted how the Las Vegas Aces superstar never fails to evolve and bring something new to the table each time.
Taurasi gave her thoughts on how Wilson has been dominating in the ongoing WNBA, saying:
"What A'ja is doing right now is really just changing the evolution of what you think a post player is more than anything. She is doiung it in an unconventional way ...
"And that's one thing about A'ja that I have found over the years by being around her and watching her evolution is every year she gets better. Whether it's better shape, whether it's extending range, her handle, the way she sees the floor, and can pick up different ways to make a decision."
Taurasi then went on to proclaim Wilson as "the best rebounder I've ever seen, hands down."

Apart from having a stellar WNBA season, A'ja Wilson led Team USA to the gold at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, where she was joined by Taurasi.
