Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever got their rematch against the Atlanta Dream on Thursday as they looked to avenge their 91-90 loss in Indiana two nights ago. After opening the season with two home games, the Fever hoped to grab their first road win.
The reigning Rookie of the Year winner opened the scoring for the Fever with a layup off a nifty pass from Aliyah Boston. That was Clark's only basket in the first quarter, going 1-for-4. The poor start put Indiana in an 18-13 hole after 10 minutes.
The Fever roared back in the second quarter despite Clark scoring only two points. She added two assists to help her team take a 37-34 halftime lead.
Caitlin Clark continued to struggle in the third, making 1 of 4 attempts. Her only basket was a layup during a fastbreak situation. She handed out two assists, guiding her team to a 61-58 lead entering the fourth period.
The Fever star scored another layup to start the fourth. This turned out to be her only made field goal. However, she made clutch free throws and set up Aliyah Boston for a layup that gave the Fever a 79-76 lead with 36.1 seconds remaining.
The All-Star guard had a rough shooting night but helped her team to an 81-76 win.
Caitlin Clark fails to make a 3-pointer for the first time in her WNBA career
Caitlin Clark sizzled from behind the arc in her first two games. She went 4-for-8 in the Indiana Fever's 93-58 season-opening win over the Chicago Sky on Saturday. The sweet-shooting guard ended with a 5-for-11 clip on Tuesday against the Atlanta Dream.
In the rematch against the Dream in Atlanta, Clark had her worst game of the season. She went 4-for-11, including 0-for-5 from behind the arc, the first time in her career she failed to make a 3-pointer.
The last time she could not convert a triple against WNBA players was during an exhibition game against Team USA in July 2024, when she went 0-for-7.
