Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark humbled a reporter on Saturday for checking his phone during the post-game interview. The guard called out the reporter after the Fever's win against the NY Liberty, as he was seen using his device while questioning her. Clark, who returned to the court after five games, corrected the journalist after he confounded her with his unprofessional act.
After handing the Liberty their first loss of the season at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Clark attended the post-game conference alongside Lexie Hull. During the proceedings, a journalist was seen using his phone while questioning the Fever superstar, which earned a humbling response from her end.
"You can't ask a question (when) on your phone, right?" she asked. "You can ask the question after you turn it off. There we go. I am not a good multitasker; I can't hear," Clark continued.
The humbling response earned a wide smile from Hull, who seemed to enjoy the stern reply from the reigning Rookie of the Year winner. Clark enjoyed a successful comeback against the Liberty, as the Fever returned to winning ways with a thumping 102-88 victory.
Clark led her team from the front on the night as she recorded 32 points and 9 assists in 31 minutes. She also had a great night shooting the ball, recording a 55.5% conversion rate from the field goal while registering a 50.0% figure from the three-point line.
Her performance also nullified Sabrina Ionescu's 34-point game as the reigning champions were handed their first loss of the season. The Fever will be hopeful that this is a sign of things to come, as they look to build their momentum with this victory.
Caitlin Clark opens up on the Fever's 25-3 run in the third quarter and not crumbling in the "second half."
The Indiana Fever earned a hard-fought victory against the reigning champions on Saturday, handing them their first loss of the season. Although the scoreline suggests a blowout victory, the game remained pretty levelled until halftime, before a strong 25-3 run in the third quarter saw the Fever take an enormous lead.
Speaking about this moment during the post-game conference, Clark explained what brought on that shift in gears.
"We talked about this in the locker room, that's like where we grew today. In the past, that's where we would crumble ... It's tied at halftime, we come out in the third quarter, and we fall apart. But today we really stuck together, somebody said we went on a 25-3 run, just proud of everybody," she expressed (Timestamp: 4:30).
With the score at 59-53, the Fever went on a 25-3 run in the third quarter, as the Liberty failed to score a basket in over five minutes. This moment saw the Fever take a 78-59 lead, which eventually earned them their win.
