WNBA fans reacted to a play between Caitlin Clark and Alyssa Thomas in the game between Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun. Clark is not the strongest player on the WNBA court and sometimes it puts her at a disadvantage. It was clearly visible in the game on Tuesday.
During one of the plays in the first half, Thomas had the ball in her hand and Clark was trying to snatch it away from her. However, Thomas, who is extremely strong, snatched the ball from Clark with brute force and almost tripped the Indiana rookie.
NBA fans reacted to the video of the play posted on X [formerly Twitter]. Some of them said that Thomas threw Clark like a doll.
Alluding to Indiana congressman Jim Banks, who wrote a letter to the WNBA asking the commissioner to curb physical play on Clark, a fan wrote:
There were also some fans in the comment section who said that this had nothing to do with the gym. Thomas was physically bigger than Clark.
Moreover, for some fans, it was not even about the physicality of the play. For them, the play should have been a jump ball.
DiJonai Carrington gets booed by home crowd after mocking Caitlin Clark
The Connecticut Sun, currently the best team in the WNBA, recently faced the Indiana Fever at the Mohegan Sun Arena. During one of the plays in the first half, Caitlin Clark was fouled by the Sun’s guard DiJonai Carrington.
Clark received an inbound pass and as she moved toward the basket, she was fouled by Carrington. After the foul was called, Carrington started mocking Clark for acting to draw the foul. However, Carrington’s gesture was clearly not appreciated by a large number of her own fans in the arena.
Clark has a large fan following across the country and those fans who came to watch her might not have liked what Carrington did.
Clark played only 22 minutes in the game. She scored 10 points while shooting 3 of 8 shots from the field and 2 of 5 shots from beyond the arc.
The Connecticut Sun registered their 10th win of the season and now holds a 10-1 record, which is the best in the league. The Indiana Fever have a 3-10 record which puts them at the lower end of the standings. They are only ahead of the Washington Mystics, a team that has lost all 12 games it has played this season.
