Dallas Wings vs. Phoenix Mercury Game Summary
The Dallas Wings were back on the road on Wednesday when they visited the Phoenix Mercury at the Footprint Center. The Wings were looking to snap a five-game losing streak, while the Mercury were coming off an 89-77 defeat to the Seattle Storm.
Dallas finally had Paige Bueckers back, who missed the past four games with a concussion and a non-COVID illness. Bueckers was put in the league's concussion protocol last week and went down with an undisclosed illness before getting cleared to play in Phoenix.
On the other hand, the Mercury remained inconsistent despite their stellar play. They would look like contenders in one game, then get beaten easily in the next. Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas have been fantastic in their first year in Phoenix so far.
The game started pretty close between the Dallas Wings and Phoenix Mercury. Paige Bueckers carried her team from the get-go, scoring 12 points in the first quarter. She outscored the rest of her teammates in the first half, 22-14.
It was that kind of game for the Wings before some of Bueckers' teammates decided to pick up the slack. However, the Mercury began pulling away in the third quarter and held on in the final period.
Dallas has now lost six in a row and are 1-10, wasting Bueckers' career night. They have to improve overall as a team, especially if the UConn product continues to produce at this rate. Phoenix, on the other hand, were back on the win column with an overall record of 7-4.
