Damiris Dantas joined Caitlin Clark and four others in the Indiana Fever's injury list ahead of the WNBA playoffs. The Fever are set to take on the Atlanta Dream in a best-of-three first-round series.According to Fever reporter Tony East, the 6-foot-4 forward/center suffered a concussion during the team's practice session on Thursday. Dantas will not be available for Sunday's Game 1, as she entered the league's concussion protocol. The Fever already have players sidelined with season-ending injuries: Clark, Sophie Cunningham, Chloe Bibby, Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald. With Dantas out, Indiana now has six players for Sunday's playoffs opener. While Dantas has seen limited playing time as a backup this season, the short-handed Fever could use Dantas' size against the Dream. Atlanta has a talented frontcourt, which includes four-time All-Star Brionna Jones, 6-9 Brittney Griner and Sixth Player of the Year candidate Naz Hillmon.Dantas missed time earlier this season to play for her national team, Brazil, alongside the Chicago Sky's Kamilla Cardoso. The Brazilians won silver at the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup in July. In 38 games this season, Dantas averaged 4.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per game.Fever coach Stephanie White says Atlanta's size would be a challengeIndiana Fever coach Stephanie White was asked on Friday what her team's biggest challenge would be against the Atlanta Dream."First and foremost, their size," White said. "Their size at most all positions has been a challenge for us. So we're gonna have to combat that with our discipline, No. 1, and with our reads on the offensive end of the floor. Secondly, just the way they space the floor. I mean, they do a really good job.Indiana (24-20) finished the regular season as the No. 6 seed, setting up a first-round series against the No. 3 Atlanta (30-14). The teams split their four meetings this season. The Dream won 91-90 on May 20 and 77-58 on June 10, while the Fever won 81-76 on May 22 and 99-82 on July 11.All four first-round series will start on Sunday. The Fever vs. Dream game will air nationally on ABC, while the other three playoff openers will be televised on ESPN.Game 2 between Atlanta and Indiana is on Tuesday at Indiana's Gainbridge Fieldhouse. If necessary, a Game 3 will be scheduled on Thursday back in Atlanta.
