The Dallas Wings suffered another injury for the 2025 WNBA season with Maddy Siegrist. The former Villanova forward has been ruled out of the lineup due to a fractured knee and is expected to return later in the year. It was an unfortunate setback for the Wings as they continue to struggle with a 1-11 record.
According to the team, the forward sustained the injury during their June 11 game against the Phoenix Mercury. In that contest, Siegrist played 15 minutes and had three points and three rebounds on 1-for-5 shooting.
According to the team, Siegrist had subsequent testing during their road trip last week. The good news is: she doesn't need to undergo surgery. The 6-foot-2 forward is expected to make a full recovery and possibly return before the season ends.
The third-year forward has been an important contributor for Dallas. She's averaging 9.4 points and 5.2 rebounds on 43.3% shooting. Following her injury, Siegrist had a three-word post on X:
"Road to recovery 🙏🏼❤️🩹"

Which players will get more opportunities while Maddy Siegrist is injured?
The Wings' situation just got worse with Maddy Siegrist's recent injury. Aside from the forward, Tysha Harris is out for the rest of the season, according to NBA insider Grant Afseth, also due to a knee injury.
With Luisa Geiselsöder and Teaira McCowan competing in the 2025 EuroBasket, the Wings' frontcourt is depleted. That could open up more playing time for Li Yueru, the recently acquired center from the Seattle Storm. While she's not a forward, the Chinese star can stretch the floor with her outside shooting.
Additionally, Nalyssa Smith could have an increased role. She started the season as part of the bench unit and will likely have more playing time.
The Wings will have to wait at least eight weeks until Maddy Siegrist recovers fully from the injury.
