The Indiana Fever kept their playoff hopes alive with an 84-79 win over the Atlanta Dream at State Farm Arena on Monday. It was another Caitlin Clark-Kelsey Mitchell scoring show as the duo combined for 48 points to help the Fever keep their playoff run on track. The win now sees them improve to 14-16 — two wins below the sixth-placed Phoenix Suns.
The Dream kept themselves in the hunt with a rally in the second half. They had a brilliant final quarter getting past Fever's defense with a 20-14 run, but it wasn't enough to get them past Indiana's relentless offense. Tina Charles led the way with a 28-point performance, while Rhyne Howard tallied 16 points for the hosts.
Charles shot 13-21 from the field, and none from three-point land, while Howard struggled landing just five of her 17 attempts from the field and four of her 10 attempted 3s.
As for the Fever, Mitchell led the side with a game-high 29 points, seven rebounds, and one assist. Caitlin Clark had 19 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, while center Aliyah Boston recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds. Coming off the bench, their impact player was Damiris Dantas with 11 points.
Indiana's offense didn't explode either with Clark shooting just 6-of-14 from the field and 4-of-9 from downtown. Mitchell hit 10 of her 23 field goal attempts and nailed three of her 10 shots from beyond the arc. Damiris' 11 points proved to be the difference as the Dream kept inching close to the scoreboard.
At halftime, the Fever led 52-39, a lead that put Atlanta under immense pressure, but they bounced back getting past Fever's defenders to outscore them 21-18 and 20-14 in the final two quarters.
