"Most dominant athlete in any sport" - ESPN host ranks A'ja Wilson ahead of every sports star after record-breaking scoring achievement

Following A'ja Wilson's record-breaking performance during the Las Vegas Aces' matchup against the Indiana Fever on Wednesday, ESPN radio host Freddie Coleman had high praise for Wilson. On "Greeny Show," Coleman highlighted that the two-time WNBA MVP has separated herself from the rest of the league as he reasoned his claim.

"No one has been as dominant in terms of separating herself from everybody else in a league (like) what we've seen from A'ja Wilson in the last three years," Coleman said.

"Caitlin Clark, who just got there with the Indiana Fever, people said what about you in MVP conversation, she said, 'That one over there, Wilson, she her. She's unguardable.' She has been that dominant, and she is the most dominant athlete in any sport compared to anybody else, in my opinion."

This comes after A'ja Wilson broke the WNBA's all-time record for most points in a regular season during the Aces' matchup against the Fever. Wilson led the Aces to an 86-75 victory with her double-double performance of 27 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks.

The Aces center surpassed Jewell Loyd's 939-point mark and set the record at 956 with four games remaining in the 2024 regular season. If she keeps the pace in the upcoming matchups, Wilson will be the first WNBA player to cross the 1000-point mark in a single season.

During the postgame interview after the Las Vegas Aces' matchup against the Indiana Fever on Wednesday, A'ja Wilson credited her breaking the WNBA single-season scoring record to her teammates. The two-time WNBA champion got emotional as she spoke about her teammates, calling them the "heartbeat."

"My teammates are the ones, they're the heartbeat to get me going," Wilson said. "Just the way they show up to work every single day, ready to play, ready to lock in...we lock in on each other every single day and that's what you see on the court.

"So the points are great, they're gonna always be there, and I'm never gonna stop shooting, but the group that we have in the locker room is something that I am so genuinely happy to be around. So I'm blessed, I'm super blessed to be able to do what I do with the people I do and I credit it all to them."

A'ja Wilson is leading the way for the Aces as they look to secure their third consecutive WNBA title this season. Wilson is also the frontrunner for this season's MVP honors, and it's not even close. The reigning WNBA Finals MVP is leading the league in points and blocks, averaging 27.3 points and 2.7 blocks along with 11.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
