Caitlin Clark was on the receiving end of two flagrant fouls against the Chicago Sky on Friday. It caught the attention of fans since one of the flagrant fouls looked bad when Diamond DeShields ran through Clark during a fastbreak. However, WNBA legend Rebecca Lobo has rejected any claim about the Indiana Fever star being targeted.

Lobo reposted Clark Report's viral tweet about the percentage of flagrant fouls committed on the Iowa graduate. The account revealed that 17% of all flagrant fouls in the league were against Clark with 80% of them by Sky players.

It didn't look good at first, so the anger from Clark's fanbase was warranted. That's where Lobo stepped in to explain the percentages, which weren't that crazy once scrutinized and put into detail.

"The below % is accurate, but the raw numbers are also important. This season Clark has been flagrantly fouled 5 times (32 games). In 2023, Satou Sabally was flagrantly fouled 4 times (38 gms.). In '22, Aerial Powers was flagrantly fouled 5 times (35 gms). (Research: @herhoopstats)," Lobo tweeted.

Five flagrant fouls on Caitlin Clark is certainly a high number and it's even more concerning to the naked eye the Chicago Sky was responsible for four of those fouls. However, it's important to explain that only two of those flagrant fouls were sketchy – Chennedy Carter's controversial body check early in the season on June 1 and Diamond DeShields' rough tackle on Friday.

The other three flagrant fouls were committed by Aari McDonald of the LA Sparks, and Angel Reese and Michaela Onyenwere of the Sky. McDonald and Onyenwere committed the landing spot foul, wherein they didn't allow Clark to have a safe landing spot.

There was nothing malicious in those calls since the two defenders were just aggressive in contesting Clark's shot. It was not surprising considering how lethal the Indiana rookie is from beyond the arc.

Reese's flagrant foul happened on their second matchup of the season on June 23. "The Chi-Town Barbie" accidentally hit her rival in the head as she was trying to block her shot. Both players acknowledged the play after the game and they called it part of basketball.

The Fever extended their winning streak to four and improved to 6-1 since the start of the second half of the season. They now have an overall record of 17-16, the first time they have a winning record this season. It's a huge turnaround for Indiana after a 1-8 start to the campaign.
