In the first quarter, Reese ran a pick-and-roll with veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot. On her drive to the basket, Reese was met by Indiana center Aliyah Boston, who contested the shot. The result: an airball that quickly circulated on social media, drawing criticism from fans on X.

Reese ended the night with four points and 12 rebounds on 2-for-7 shooting in 26 minutes. No Sky player reached double digits in scoring, with Kamilla Cardoso and Rebecca Allen each finishing with eight points.

Angel Reese’s shooting woes continue in sophomore season

Angel Reese has faced scrutiny for her inefficiency near the basket. In an earlier matchup against the New York Liberty, she missed all seven of her shots within four feet, tied for the most such misses in a WNBA game over the past decade.

She also made history by recording the most offensive rebounds in a game without a field goal made. Moreover, Reese recorded the most offensive rebounds (eight) without a made field goal in WNBA history.

According to shot-distance data from her rookie campaign, Reese converted just 44.5% of her shots inside five feet. That percentage fell to 11.1% from five to nine feet and 33.3% between 10 and 14 feet. Her midrange accuracy was 35.7% from 15 to 19 feet and 18.2% from 20 to 24 feet. From beyond 25 feet, she was 1-for-6.

Her numbers have dipped further this season — connecting on just 32.2% of shots from less than five feet and 26.0% from five to nine feet.
