The last time Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark were on the court together, they were involved in a skirmish, with the Fever superstar committing a hard foul on the Sky forward on opening night. According to Whitlock, Reese's rivalry with Clark does not bode well for the reputation of the Chicago Sky star.
On Monday's episode of "Fearless With Jason Whitlock," he criticized Reese for her behaviour toward the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.
"Angel Reese is a laughing stock, and she didn't have to be a laughing stock," Whitlock said. "She's chosen a fight with Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever fans...she's become a meme."
Whitlock shared a snippet from the show on X and said Reese was damaging her reputation.
"As long as she continues to go down this path of hating Caitlin Clark, people will continue to laugh," he wrote on X. "She’s made a terrible mistake as it relates to her reputation."
Though Whitlock acknowledged that Reese has become a well-paid star in her own right, he pointed to her "lack of skill" as the reason why feuding with Clark is an unwise move. To back up his assertion, Whitlock cited Reese's four-point performance in the Sky's 79-52 loss to the Indiana Fever on Sunday, a game that Clark didn't even play in.
Whitlock then offered a suggestion that would supposedly benefit Reese's young WNBA career.
"I would raise the white flag as it relates to Caitlin Clark," he said. "I would try to become her BFF or friendly rival and show some respect and affinity towards Clark."
In the past, both Reese and Clark have denied that there is any ill will between them.
Whatever the case may be, Reese and the rest of the Chicago roster have a tough road ahead of them as they look to bounce back from a 2-5 start this season.
Angel Reese duplicates Serena Williams' feat at 2025 BET Awards
On the same day that Whitlock delivered his criticism of Reese, the Sky star was picking up an accolade and following in the footsteps of an all-time tennis great.
At the 2025 BET Awards on Monday, Reese was named Sportswoman of the Year for the third consecutive year.
Reese became just the second athlete to win the award at least three times. Serena Williams, a 16-time Sportswoman of the Year, is the only other athlete to have pulled off this feat.
